19 Sep Angus & Oink Launches Guerrilla Brewing
Angus & Oink, the barbecue lifestyle company, is today introducing three small batch beers to its product repertoire under the micro brand, Guerrilla Brewing.
The firm, which already produces and sells hot sauces, rubs and a range of sausages, has partnered with Glasgow-based Drygate Brewing to initially produce 700 of each beer: Cocoa Chipotle Cartel – an oatmeal porter with chocolaty aroma and hint of chipotle chilli, Rio Passion Session – a refreshing IPA with a sensuous passion fruit finish, and Tomahawk Red Indian Pale Ale – made with Rye and Tomahawk hops to give a deep flavour with a bourbon hit.
Angus & Oink has unveiled the beers as part of an on-going strategy to pair foods with beer, while having the brand’s sauces working alongside perfectly.
Scott Fraser, Pitboss and Co-owner at Angus & Oink, says: “The decision to launch Guerrilla Brewing is a natural progression for us. We are devoted to the BBQ culture of the Southern states of the US and South America and want to present an all-encompassing BBQ product experience to our customers.
“We realised that because of our time in South America, we could provide something no-one else could. We’d been there and lived there, eaten at the road side with our friends, eaten where the workers ate and where the more well-off ate. Our mission is flavour – combinations that bring the life of food into the lives of others.
“We wanted to work with innovative people who still thrive on producing small batch beer. We’re experimenting with beer and flavour combinations that emphasise food and regional cuisine around BBQ, street food and great produce.
“Meeting Drygate and working with their brewing team on the studio kit has allowed us to test the water and develop our first three beers quickly, with a bunch of people we have developed a great relationship with. Drygate is an experimental brewery, which allows people to come in a try their brews, partly owned by William Brothers and Tennants, it also has a great restaurant and atmosphere.
“We’ve coined the phrase Guerrilla Brewing as we don’t brew ourselves; we’re small and lightweight as a company, able to move quickly and outside the rules. We’re able to brew with other beer producers and hope to develop our range with Drygate and other craft brewers in the future.”
Angus & Oink will be debuting the new beer range at the Scottish Home Show this weekend (23rd to 25th September) at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre. Each beer will retail at £2.50 and will be available for sale on the Angus & Oink website in the next few weeks.
